The Business Model Canvas is an analytical tool described in Business Model Generation. It is a visual template preformatted with the nine blocks of a business model, allowing users to diagram existing business models or conceive new ones.
The Canvas is ordinarily printed or drawn on a large surface so groups of people can jointly start sketching and discussing business model elements using Post-it® notes or marking pens. It is a hands-on tool that fosters analysis, understanding, discussion, and creativity.
